PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP : Ortega’s Third No-Hitter Gives La Habra Championship

Dani Ortega pitched her third no-hitter of the eight-day-old season to lead La Habra to a 4-0 victory over Katella in the championship game of the Brea-Olinda softball tournament Saturday at Brea-Olinda High School.
Ortega improved to 6-0. Jackie Kelley had two hits, including a double, and two runs batted in for La Habra (6-0).
In another Brea-Olinda tournament games:
El Modena 2, Brea-Olinda 1 (8 innings)--Kristi Bolle scored the game-winning run on an error with two outs in the bottom of the eighth as the Vanguards (3-3) won the third-place game.
In the championship game of the Fullerton tournament:
Woodbridge 4, La Puente Bishop Amat 0--Alison Ward (4-1) struck out eight and had two hits for Woodbridge (6-2). Keri Byrd and Jessica Montgomery each went two for three with an RBI for the Warriors.
In the Corona Tournament:
El Toro 2, Riverside La Sierra 0--Misty Lauby threw a two-hitter with eight strikeouts to post her third consecutive shutout, and Korrie Allen went three for three with an RBI for El Toro (3-2).
In the Downey tournament:
Santa Ana Valley 10, Bell 9--Pitcher Marisol Gonzalez won it for herself with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning in a game shortened to five innings by the tournament time limit. Bell took a 6-0 lead, but Santa Ana Valley (1-3) pulled to within 6-5 on Monica Vasquez’s triple in the third and tied it when Vasquez stole home. Bell (0-2) committed seven errors and walked nine.
In nonleague games:
Trabuco Hills 3-1, Ocean View 2-3--Tami Dowlin pitched a no-hitter and had two hits in the second game for host Ocean View (1-1).
