Lincoln graduate Quincy Clark, a San Diego State sophomore, wrestled his way to All-American status at the NCAA tournament in Oklahoma City, Okla. Clark, who competes at 177 pounds, lost his first match before winning two more Thursday, then won two before losing his last of the day Friday. The top eight in each weight class made All-American. Clark will wrestle for seventh or eighth place today.

BASEBALL

San Diego State’s doubleheader against BYU was postponed because of rain, but a tripleheader has been rescheduled for 11 a.m. today.

Trailing 6-3 after 3 1/2 innings, Point Loma Nazarene called its game against visiting Baker (Kansas) on account of rain. All nine runs were scored in the first inning.

TENNIS

Two University of San Diego Invitational women’s matches were completed before rain suspended the remaining two. Iowa defeated Yale, 6-0, and South Florida downed Fresno State, 5-2. Rained out USD-New Mexico and Washington-Brown have been rescheduled for 7:45 a.m. Other matches will follow.

The USD and Texas A&M; men’s match was postponed because of rain.

AUTO RACING

Rodger Ward, a national champion race driver who had his first major victory at San Diego’s old Balboa Stadium in 1947, will be inducted into the San Diego Automotive Museum’s Racing Hall of Fame on March 28.

Ward won the Indianapolis 500 in 1959 and 1962, and is the third driver to be selected into the hall. He joins Juan Fangio and Carroll Shelby, who were named in 1990 and 1991.
