San Pasqual 2, Ramona 1--San Pasqual’s Mike Corns threw a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts and only two walks. Rocky Bracamonte, in his first varsity outing, struck out 11 and allowed only a bunt single to Curtis Marsh in the sixth. Marsh wound up scoring the tying run on a balk and Sal Serrato scored the winning run on a passed ball. San Pasqual improved to 3-4-2 and 2-0. Ramona fell to 0-7 and 0-2.

San Marcos 3, Oceanside 1--Tom McCaskey and Jeff Huberts combined on a one-hitter to lift San Marcos (3-6, 1-1). McCaskey left the game in the third inning after a collision at home plate gave Oceanside its only run, and Huberts threw 4 2/3 innings of hitless relief. Charles Stringfellow singled twice and had two RBIs for the Knights.

Palomar League

Vista 5, Mt. Carmel 4--Justin Kern singled, doubled and tripled home two runs to lead No. 5 Vista (6-1-1, 1-0). Winning pitcher Matt Stone (5-0) struck out 10, and also went two for three at the plate. Mt. Carmel is 3-8, 0-2.

Poway 11, Rancho Buena Vista 6--Six players had at least two hits for No. 6 Poway (6-1, 1-0). Jeff Pattison homered and drove in three runs; and John Grosely had three hits and Jeff Wight had two hits, each driving in two runs. Mark Phillips also homered. RBV is 6-4-1, 1-1.

Fallbrook 10, Torrey Pines 3--Buddy Christensen hit a grand slam in a nine-run second inning and added an RBI single to lead Fallbrook (4-3, 1-0). Torrey Pines (2-5-1, 1-1).

Orange Glen 6, San Dieguito 3 (8 innings)--Ray Rodriguez hit a two-run homer for Orange Glen in the second inning, and Omar Navarro had a solo homer in the third. Sophomore Dusty Marvin (1-1) pitched a six-hitter and struck out nine for the victory. San Dieguito’s Justin Liniak homered with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game before Orange Glen (4-5-1, 1-0) rallied for three runs in the eighth.

City Coastal League

La Jolla Country Day 5, Mountain Empire 0--LJCD (5-4, 2-0) was aided by three hit batsmen in a four-run fourth inning. Eric Sparling had an RBI single in the inning, and Eric Abrams and Brian Jones each had two hits and scored a run.

City Conference Tournament

Mission Bay 6, Madison 1--Chase Lowery went two for three with three RBIs, including a two-run double in the first inning for Mission Bay (4-3), and Ivan Espinoza had two hits, two RBIs and scored twice. Manny Castillo (1-1) allowed four hits and struck out 10 in six innings before being relieved by Jason Martin. Madison is 6-3.

Point Loma 3, USDHS 2 (9 innings)--Rantie Harper singled, stole second base, reached third on a passed ball and scored on Josh Serrano’s sacrifice fly to lift Point Loma (6-6-1) to the upset of No. 4 USDHS (7-1). Point Loma is (6-6-1).

San Diego 5, Serra 3--Senior center fielder David Mendoza went three for three with a double, an RBI and a run, and Victor Ledon (1-0) and Jacque Jones (second save) combined on a four-hitter for the Cavers (5-4). Serra fell to 4-6.

Grossmont Conference Tournament

Monte Vista 7, El Cajon Valley 3--Jeremy Lipsey had a three-run homer, and James Isbell had a two-run homer and three RBIs to lift Monte Vista (6-4-1). ECV is 4-3.

El Capitan 9, Helix 3--El Capitan got a bases-loaded, two-run double from Mike Leone in a four-run sixth inning rally, and a three-for-three day from Jason Phillips, who also drove in a run. Matt LaChappa improved to 2-2 with six-plus solid innings for El Capitan (5-4).
