A contract grievance of former Cal State Northridge women’s basketball Coach Janet Martin against the university was heard Monday by Donald Cameron, CSUN’s executive assistant to the vice president for academic affairs.

The school must respond by May 4, according to Rick Nadeau, Martin’s representative from the California Faculty Assn. who presented the grievance.

Martin, who says she was pressured into resigning Dec. 12, 1991, is seeking four months salary that would pay her through the end of the 1991-92 school year.

Cal State Northridge, winner of 10 consecutive games before losing to Cal on Tuesday, moved up to No. 8 in Collegiate Baseball magazine’s rankings of Division I teams.

The Matadors (29-8-1), previously rated 10th, beat Chapman, 6-0, and swept a three-game series from Southern Utah last week. Kenny Kendrena, the ace of Northridge’s pitching staff, was recognized as the magazine’s co-player of the week for his performance against Chapman.

Kendrena (8-4), a senior right-hander, struck out 17 and did not allow a walk.
