CSUN’s Morales Out for Season
Cal State Northridge junior right-hander Steven Morales learned this week that he will be unable to pitch again this season because of a stress fracture in the bone behind the elbow in his throwing arm.
Morales, who has not played since suffering the injury while pitching against Nevada on April 4, will be sidelined for four to six more weeks before he can begin rehabilitation exercises, Coach Bill Kernen said.
“I think we can safely say he’s done for the season and probably this summer too,” Kernen said.
Morales is 4-1 with a 2.47 earned-run average. In 63 innings, he has given up 43 hits and has 66 strikeouts.
David Prosenko, a senior outfielder, also will miss the remainder of the season. Prosenko sustained a torn ligament in the thumb of his left hand while sliding into third base during a game Feb. 23 against San Jose State. He was batting .263 as a part-time starter.
