HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Mira Mesa’s Hause Stops Patrick Henry

Senior Brendan Hause pitched Mira Mesa to a 10-2 victory over host Patrick Henry Tuesday in a City Eastern League game. Hause, who entered the game with 83 strikeouts and 0.87 ERA, improved his record to 9-1 and took over the county lead in victories.

Third-ranked Mira Mesa is 17-5 and 6-1. Patrick Henry is 7-12 and 3-4.

Metro Conference

Montgomery 5, Chula Vista 2--The second-ranked rolled to 19-3, 10-0 behind the five-hit pitching of David Silvas. Julio Saldana was four for four with two RBIs.

Hilltop 5, Southwest 2--Jesse Guzman was four for four and scored twice, Richie Hinzo was two for three with an RBI and a triple and Mark Magallanes had a hit and two RBIs for Hilltop 10-9, 4-4). Henry Mercado struck out 10 for the Lancers.

Mar Vista 2, Sweetwater 1--Bobby Rector improved to 7-0, throwing a three hitter and allowing an unearned run for the second-place Mariners (14-7-2, 6-3-1). Both Mar Vista runs came in the sixth inning, highlighted by singles by Andy Moreno and Sergio Godinez (RBI).

City Western League

USDHS 23, University City 6--Jeff Moore was five for five with five RBIs and Aaron Blair was three for five with five RBIs to lead USDHS, which improved to 18-3 and 7-0. UC fell to 5-15 and 1-6.

Kearny 8, La Jolla 5--Kearny’s scored seven runs in the second inning on six singles and three errors and a walk. Ninth-place hitter Frank Herrmanns was three for four with a run scored and a RBI for Kearny (10-11-1, 4-4). La Jolla fell to 11-11, 2-5.

City Central League

Madison 9, Crawford 4--Brad Tade had a double, triple, homer and three RBIs and Jesus Martinez went three for four with two RBIs and two runs for Madison (16-6, 6-1), which regained sole possession of first place. Larry Haley went two for four with two RBIs to lead Crawford (10-10, 5-2).

San Diego 4, Lincoln 1--The Cavers moved to 11-10, 5-3 behind county strikeout leader Jacque Jones (4-3), who threw a two-hitter, fanning 11 and walking one. Nakia Hill doubled, tripled and scored twice, and Vic Ledon was three for three for San Diego. Lincoln fell to 8-13, 2-5.

City Harbor League

Coronado 9, St. Augustine 6--The Islanders (14-8, 6-2) closed the gap on the first-place Saints (20-4, 6-1), thanks to a three-run sixth inning. Jason Switzer delivered a two-run double in the inning, picking up his eighth RBI in two days. Coronado also had a five-run second inning keyed by triples from Craig Goldstein and Kevin Ward. Guy Murray, who was two for three, picked up his second save, getting the last out for Tucker Tupek (4-3). Marco Inzunza (7-2) suffered the loss.

Marian 7, Christian 5--Hector Concepcion was three for three with two RBIs for Marian (4-15, 4-3).

Coastal League

La Jolla Country Day 13, Bishop’s 6--Todd Graves was two for four with an RBI and Eric Abrams was two for four with two RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases for LJCD (10-7, 6-2).

Francis Parker 6, Army-Navy 5--The Lancers (9-5, 6-1) battled back from a five-run deficit, winning on a sacrifice fly by Dvelin Millay that scored Jon Beamer in the seventh. Winning pitcher Charles Pope had two doubles.
