SOUTHERN SECTION BASEBALL : Diamond Bar Is Top Seeded in 5A
Diamond Bar High’s baseball team, ranked No. 1 by USA Today and Baseball Weekly, was given a top seeding from the Southern Section playoff committee Monday.
The Brahmas (24-1) will open the 5-A Division playoffs Friday at home against Lawndale Leuzinger.
Wild-card games will be held in every division today, with winners qualifying for the 32- and 16-team brackets depending on the division. All first-round games will be Friday. The finals will be June 5-6.
Newhall Hart is seeded second in 5-A, followed by Huntington Beach and Santa Ana Mater Dei. Oxnard Rio Mesa (17-5-2) is top seeded in 4-A.
The other top-seeded teams:
El Segundo (25-2), 3-A; Riverside Norte Vista (22-2), 2-A; Moorpark (17-3), 1-A, and Temecula Linfield Christian (17-1), Small Schools.
