In other 2-A quarterfinal games:

El Capitan 1, Madison 0--Madison’s Michelle Hudson dominated El Capitan for the first 11 innings, striking out 16, but El Capitan got to her for a run in the 12th.

Escondido 1, Santana 0--First-inning singles by Michelle Saltus and Kim Scales, and a sacrifice fly by winning pitcher Marquessa Penrod (12-2) were all No. 1 Escondido (24-2) needed. Santana finished 16-15.

Christian 2, San Pasqual 0--Junior Sarah Dawson struck out nine and walked one to earn her 16th shutout of the season. Offensively for Christian (19-5), Marlena Jones singled in Ruth Dawson with the winning run in the third. Page Dulawan went two for two and scored the second run on a single by Amanda Barnes in the fifth.

3-A quarterfinals

Mt. Miguel 5, Bonita 0--Katie Byard hit a two-run homer and Martha Olow had two hits and scored twice to lift Mt. Miguel (21-11). Winning pitcher Natasha Sprague (21-9) fired a one-hitter and added an RBI triple. Bonita Vista ended 15-10.

Patrick Henry 2, Grossmont 1--Amy Miner got her 18th victory by striking out 14 and walking one. She also got the tying RBI on a fielder’s choice in the fourth that scored Brooke Peterson, who had doubled. In the fifth, Jennifer Berry got the winning RBI with a two-out single to score Shannon Murphy.

Granite Hills 4, Fallbrook 1--Ami Dunlap, who threw a no-hitter against Castle Park on Saturday, had another going through five innings against Granite Hills. Fallbrook (15-11) stranded seven runners in scoring position.

Monte Vista 5, Hilltop 0--Junior Casey Gregg (16-8-1) lost her perfect game when Carey Winston opened the sixth with a single. Gregg finished with a two-hitter. Losing pitcher Ann Basinski surrendered only two earned runs and allowed only two hits, a triple by Gregg and an RBI single by Christy Kitterman. Monte Vista is 20-9-1. Hilltop finished 17-12.
