In other 2-A first-round games:

Mission Bay 6, Coronado 0--J.J. Ibarra went two for four, stole two bases, scored a run and had an RBI for No. 1 Mission Bay. Jason Martin (6-1) pitched six innings, struck out eight, walked two and allowed two hits as he lowered his ERA to 0.16. Coronado ended 16-13 after losing its third straight.

Crawford 6, La Jolla 5--Crawford (16-12) won in the bottom of the 11th, ending La Jolla’s season at 14-14.

St. Augustine 2, El Cajon 0--Junior right-hander Javier Pamus (7-1) struck out eight and allowed only four hits in 6 2/3 innings for No. 3 St. Augustine (26-5). Memo Lopez earned his ninth save. El Cajon Valley finished 12-16.

Rancho Bernardo 11, Madison 0--Pete Keleher hit the first pitch for a home run and ended up going three for five with two RBIs and three runs for the Broncos (13-12). Chad Sixt went three for four with an RBI and Mike Walter two for three with an RBI.

USDHS 2, San Diego 1--USDHS (22-7) managed only four hits to San Diego’s nine, but two of them came in the bottom of the seventh as the Dons emerged from a tie. Ian Hamilton led off the inning with a double, and, after two walks and a strike out, Tim Linaugh hit a lazy fly to right-center that eluded the drawn-in outfield, dropped, and allowed Hamilton to score. Hamilton went the distance and struck out seven. Jacque Jones struck out nine for San Diego (13-13).

El Capitan 4, El Camino 0--Pat McMillin, a junior right-hander, went the distance, struck out 12 batters and walked one for No. 2 El Capitan (21-11). Dylan Smith’s two-out single in the first drove in two runs, and Matt McFarlane (two for three) also added an RBI. El Camino finished 12-15.

West Hills 7, Escondido 4--West Hills, making its first playoff appearance, scored five unearned runs in the first to upset No. 4 Escondido (15-10-1), which was making its seventh consecutive playoff appearance and ninth in 10 years. West Hills (13-13-1) got a two-run double from H.K. Caldwell in the first, and Jerrod Kermath followed with an RBI double.

3-A First Round

Grossmont 7, Patrick Henry 6--Dennis Twombley’s two-run homer helped Patrick Henry (11-15-2) score four runs before Grossmont got an out, and Eric Slama doubled three times and had an RBI as the Patriots threw a scare into the top-seeded Foothillers. Grossmont (23-2-1) needed three runs in the bottom of the fifth to complete the comeback, getting the final two on RBI singles by Mike Landers and Shannon Monroe. The victory was Grossmont Coach Jeff Meredith’s 100th in only his fourth season. Robbie Coddington had three hits and was one of seven players who combined to steal 11 bases for the Foothillers. Freshman Justin Spencer entered in the first and kept Grossmont close. Making only his third varsity appearance, he surrendered two earned runs in four innings before giving way to winning pitcher Mark Olson (5-0).

Bonita Vista 5, Rancho Buena Vista 4--Scott Field doubled home the first of three runs in the bottom of the sixth, and he scored the winning run on a disputed double steal to lift Bonita Vista (18-8-2). RBV (15-11-2) opened the game with five consecutive hits to take a 3-0 lead. Among those hitting safely was Travis Wilson, who extended his hitting streak to 21 games.

Mar Vista 5, Fallbrook 1--Fallbrook pitcher Steve Pack (7-4) entered with a 1.16 ERA that rose quickly: Shaun Simmons’ double opened the first, Bobby Rector followed with a single and Rick Quinones hit a three-run homer to stake Mar Vista (18-8-2) to the early lead. Quinones finished with four RBIs. Simmons went three for three, scored three runs and stole two bases, while winning pitcher Rector (8-1) went two for three. Fallbrook finished 12-12-1.

Vista 10, Monte Vista 0--Shane Davidson doubled in the first for Monte Vista’s only hit. Vista pitcher Matt Stone (12-1) struck out seven and walked two through six innings before being relieved by Brian Field. Offensively for No. 4 Vista (21-4-1), Aaron Rounsifer went three for three with an RBI, Steve Chatham three for four with an RBI, Field two for two with two RBIs and Jerry Butkiewicz two for three with an RBI. Monte Vista finished 16-15-1.

Mira Mesa 2, Sweetwater 0--No. 3 Mira Mesa (23-5) won its ninth consecutive playoff game, getting six innings of one-hit ball from starter Ryan Cunningham (7-0). Cunningham struck out six before Brendan Hause replaced him in the seventh. Hause struck out two and allowed one hit. Hause drove in the first run with a double in the third, and Bobby Arban had an RBI single in the fourth with two outs. Sweetwater finished 12-14.

Granite Hills 4, Poway 3--Granite Hills scored all its runs in the fifth inning on six hits, and reliever Cory Waterhouse struck out Poway’s Mark Phillips to end the game with runners on first and second. Waterhouse earned his fourth save. Tom Fordham (5-5) was the winner. Jeff Vance was three for three with an RBI and Eric Nelson three for four with an RBI for the Eagles (16-12). Mike Sharp, David Kelch and John Koustmer each went two for three for seventh-ranked Poway (16-7). This also marks the third time in four years the Titans have been eliminated in the first round.

Helix 6, Castle Park 3--Helix (18-11) got all its runs in the sixth then held on. Helix starter Ryan Smith struck out seven in the first three innings before being replaced. He then re-entered and finished the game by striking out two more. Kiko Palacios homered for Castle Park (17-12).

Montgomery 13, Serra 4--Alex Palacio and Jesus Gonzales each hit three-run homers in the first to lift No. 2 Montgomery (24-3). Gonzales finished two for four with four RBIs, and Armando Mendoza had two hits and two RBIs. The Aztecs led 9-0 before Serra (11-16) scored a pair of runs.
