SOUTHERN SECTION VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFFS : Five County Teams Will Play Semifinal Matches Tonight
Five Orange County teams will participate in the semifinals of the Southern Section volleyball playoffs at 7:30 tonight at various sites.
Top-seeded Newport Harbor (17-1), the Division 4-A runner-up last season, will play host to unseeded Santa Barbara in a match at Corona del Mar High School.
In the other 4-A semifinal, unseeded Huntington Beach will play second-seeded Manhattan Beach Mira Costa at Fountain Valley High School.
Third-seeded Esperanza (15-2), making its first Division 3-A semifinal appearance, will play unseeded North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake at El Dorado High.
Top-seeded Whittier Christian (18-1), the defending 2-A champion, will play Rosemead Bosco Tech at La Serna High.
In the other 2-A semifinal, unseeded Calvary Chapel (9-7), which advanced through the qualifying round, will play Cerritos Valley Christian at Estancia High. Calvary Chapel finished as the runner-up to Whittier Christian last season.
The championship matches will be held on Saturday at Cerritos College, beginning with Division 2-A at 2:30 p.m. Division 3-A plays at 5 p.m., and Division 4-A is at 7:30 p.m.
