In other 2-A quarterfinal games:
Mission Bay 10, Santana 0--Mission Bay left-hander Manny Castillo threw a no-hitter and came within a batter of a perfect game. Castillo (9-4) allowed only a walk to Kimo Henson in the first inning. He struck out five. Shane Stroberg had two hits and two RBIs for Mission Bay (24-8). Santana finished 19-11-1.
“As long as I’ve been coaching, I don’t remember a no-hitter in the playoffs,” Mission Bay Coach Dennis Pugh said.
Crawford 4, West Hills 3--Larry Haley’s sacrifice fly scored Robby Wadas with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Haley (7-2) also pitched the final two innings and had an RBI double. West Hills ended 13-14-1. Crawford (17-12) moved into Saturday’s semifinals against top-seeded Mission Bay.
El Capitan 9, Rancho Bernardo 3--Matt LaChappa held Rancho Bernardo (13-13) to five hits and struck out 11 to lead the Vaqueros (22-11). Mike Leone had three doubles and a triple, three runs and two RBIs, and Jason Phillips was two for three with two RBIs.
