Granada Hills’ Wood Advances to City Tennis Quarterfinals

Top-seeded Casey Wood of Granada Hills High advanced to the singles quarterfinals with an easy victory in the City Section boys’ individual tennis championships Friday at the Universal City Racquet Centre.
Wood defeated Mabini Nicolas of Carson, 6-2, 6-1. Second-seeded Rafael Huerta of Chatsworth also coasted, beating Kevin Robins of Hamilton, 6-0, 6-1.
All eight seeded players in singles play won their matches Friday. The quarterfinal round is Monday at 1 p.m. at the Racquet Centre.
