The body of a 29-year-old man was found partly encased in concrete inside a refrigerator at a public storage yard in Hollywood, authorities said Saturday.

Using fingerprints, investigators at the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office were able to identify the dead man but declined to release his name pending notification of relatives. Coroner’s officials and Los Angeles Police Department homicide detectives were trying to determine the cause of death.

The caretaker of the public storage yard at 1030 N. Mansfield Ave. called police late Friday night to report a noxious odor, said Lt. Charles Roper of LAPD’s Hollywood Division. The odor was traced to the refrigerator, where the body was discovered in recently poured concrete, Roper said.
