The Master’s College has reinstated the men’s and women’s cross-country programs and has added women’s soccer for the upcoming academic year.
Jesse Taylor will coach the cross-country teams, and Stephanie Cooke, a 1992 graduate of The Master’s, will guide the women’s soccer program.
Craig Harzmann, a standout sprinter at Glendale High last season, will attend Mt. San Antonio College in the fall.
Harzmann said he took recruiting trips to the Air Force Academy and UC Santa Barbara and received offers from Cal State Northridge and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
“Everything was just pointing to (Mt. San Antonio),” Harzmann said. “They’ve got a great track program, and I just feel like I’m not quite ready for a four-year school yet.”
Harzmann has personal bests of 10.83 seconds in the 100 meters, 21.62 in the 200 and 48.65 in the 400. He finished fifth in the 200 and sixth in the 400 in the Southern Section 4-A Division championships in May.
Innocent Egbunike, the silver medalist for Nigeria in the men’s 400 in the 1987 World Championships in Rome, is the sprint coach at Mt. SAC.
