OUTLOOK

The time was right for Dana Hills to make a move, and did the Dolphins ever make one in 1991. With only one winning league record in the previous six seasons, Dana Hills went all the way to the Southern Section Division II championship game last season. Even a 22-11 loss to Irvine couldn’t dampen the Dolphins’ enthusiasm. And ’92 looms as another fine season at Dana Hills. Covington has grown some three inches since last year and the Dolphins have grown with him. He wasn’t the finest passer, completing fewer than 50% of his throws, but he was a winner. The big loss on offense was the graduation of Marcus Jenkins, a 1,000-yard rusher. Harrison and Pak, who saw considerable action last season, will be counted on to fill the void left by Jenkins. The defense, which gave up fewer than 10 points per game, also suffered key losses with the graduation of linebackers Nick Nosek and Dave Erickson. Meeker, who has the most experience of the returning players, will lead the defense.
