A 15-year-old Trabuco Canyon girl died Thursday afternoon after riding her bicycle into the back of a pickup truck, and officials are looking for the truck driver who left the scene.

Aletha M. Kwok was riding her bicycle west on Los Alisos Boulevard toward Trabuco Road when she hit the back of a bluish green pickup about 3:13 p.m., investigators said.

Kwok, who suffered massive head injuries, was dead on arrival at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills, said Lt. Harold Schaffroth.

The driver of the parked pickup truck got out and looked at the girl before getting back behind the wheel and driving off, witnesses told sheriff’s deputies. The man is being sought, Schaffroth said, because it is a crime to leave the scene of an injury accident.

The man is described as about 20 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches, with short dark hair and a blue and yellow striped short-sleeved shirt. The pickup truck had built-in tool boxes and an overhead carrying rack.

Sheriff’s officials urged anyone with information about the man or the truck to call investigators at (714) 249-5200 or (714) 647-1850.
