CITY SECTION SCORE: Belmont 21, Los Angeles 6 SYNOPSIS: Tailback Ben Martinez rushed for 212 yards and scored all three touchdowns for Belmont (1-1) on a 56-yard run and two four-yard runs for the visiting Sentinels. SCORE: Taft 31, Gardena 6 SYNOPSIS: Quarterback Mike Ferguson and running back Jerry Brown rushed for two touch downs each for Taft (1-1), which scored on its first three possessions. SCORE: Marshall 35, Grant 7 SYNOPSIS: Aman Abye scored three touchdowns, including a 54-yard pass play from Shane Gerard on the game’s first play from scrimmage, to lead the Barristers (2-0). SCORE: Washington 27, Manual Arts 6 SYNOPSIS: Running back Tim McTyer gained 90 yards in 14 carries and scored a touchdown to help the Generals (2-0) at home. SCORE: Whittier Christian 56, Hollywood 0 SYNOPSIS: Whittier Christian (2-0) recorded its second shutout and held Hollywoodto minus-eight yards rushing in the intersectional game. SCORE: Bell 23, South Gate 14 SYNOPSIS: Tailback Bobby Sullivan gained 101 yards in 23 carriers and Omar Rodriguez completed three of four passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns for Bell. SCORE: Lincoln 26, Alhambra 6 SYNOPSIS: Gerardo Roman completed 16 of 27 passes for 192 yards and four touchdowns for the host Tigers in an intersectional game at Garfield High. SCORE: Locke 20, Garfield 0 SYNOPSIS: Akili Roberson of Locke completed eight of 10 passes for 114 yards and rushed for 37 yards in a Southeastern Conference game at Huntington Park High.

SCORE: Rancho Alamitos 34, Costa Mesa 3 SYNOPSIS: Quarterback Marshall Brown passed for 133 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 172 yards and another score for Rancho Alamitos (1-1). SCORE: Mater Dei 31, St. Paul 21 SYNOPSIS: Moses Vasquez rushed for 115 yards in 15 carries to lead visiting Mater Dei (1-0-1). SCORE: Bishop Amat 13, Damien 12 SYNOPSIS: Bishop Amat quarterback Mike Smith completed nine of 18 passes for 126 yards and tailback Rodney Sermons carried 23 times for 100 yards. SCORE: Mission Viejo 14, Irvine 0 SYNOPSIS: Running back Erick Fielding gained 232 yards in 24 carries and scored on a 96-yard run in the second quarter to lead Mission Viejo (2-0). SCORE: Nogales 13, Alta Loma 7 SYNOPSIS: Lamonte Adams and Kevin Devine combined for all of Nogales’ rushing yardage, gaining 180 and 142 yards, respectively, in the nonleague game at home. SCORE: Claremont 15, Chaffey 15 SYNOPSIS: Claremont’s Morgan Janger kicked a 34-yard field goal with 28 seconds remaining for the tie. Earlier, Janger missed a 43-yard attempt. SCORE: Hart 21, Thousand Oaks 6 SYNOPSIS: Tailback Deriek Charles carried 16 times for 151 yards and quarterback Davis Delmatoff rushed for 130 yards in 17 carries for Hart (2-0).
