Taft 31, Gardena 6--Junior quarterback Mike Ferguson and sophomore running back Jerry Brown rushed for two touchdowns each for visiting Taft, which scored on its first three possessions.
Taft (1-1), which led, 18-6, at halftime, gained 278 yards in 37 carries during the game.
Brown gained 190 yards in 18 carries and scored on runs of 25 and 52 yards.
Taft’s other touchdown came on Ferguson’s lone completion of the game, a pass of 15 yards to wide receiver Dayon Shaw.
Taft held Gardena to 16 yards in 22 carries.
