Birmingham 15, University 0--Paul Holt scored on a two-yard run with 4:08 left, and Scott Valdez returned a fumble 40 yards for another touchdown with 2:56 remaining to lead the Braves (1-0) at home.
Holt led Birmingham with 45 yards in 15 carries.
University (0-2) quarterback Ben Weiss completed six of 11 for 68 yards and gained 117 yards in 34 carries.
