L.A. Baptist 28, Calvary Chapel 14--Knight wide receiver Jim Romero scored three touchdowns, including a 90-yard kickoff return to start the game, as L.A. Baptist defeated the Eagles at Monroe High.
Knight quarterback Zack Hernandez (11 for 16, 186 yards) threw touchdown passes of 45 and 26 yards to Romero and rushed for a third from one yard.
Calvary Chapel quarterback Waylan Kruse (five for 15, 74 yards) threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Sabe Younger for the visiting Eagles (1-1).
The Eagles’ Matt Kellog (16 carries for 75 yards) also added a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
