El Dorado’s Three Touchdowns in First Quarter Stop Fullerton
El Dorado, coming off last week’s victory over defending Southern Section Division IV champion Valencia, beat Fullerton, 35-6, in a nonleague game Friday night at Fullerton District Stadium.
El Dorado’s Spencer Frost set the tone when he intercepted a pass by Fullerton quarterback Fernando Alvaraz and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown 30 seconds into the game.
The Golden Hawks gained 298 yards in offense, and limited Fullerton to 122 yards.
El Dorado (4-0) scored 21 points in the first quarter. Alex Molnar, who led the Golden Hawks with 82 yards in five carries, scored on a 27-yard touchdown run with 8:59 left. Frost scored his second touchdown on a one-yard run with 3:19 remaining in first quarter.
Tight-end Kevin Haynes scored the first of his two touchdowns with just over three minutes left in the first half as he caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jim Beck on a fourth down and 29. Haynes added a 12-yard touchdown reception with 1:24 left in the fourth quarter.
Fullerton (1-3) played without starting quarterback Keith Ginter, who was serving a one-game suspension for unspecified reasons.
