PREP WATER POLO ROUNDUP : Santa Ana Valley Collects Rare Victory Over Villa Park
Todd Wines scored five goals to help Santa Ana Valley to a 12-6 victory over visiting Villa Park in a Century League water polo match Tuesday.
It was only the Falcons’ second victory over the Spartans in 27 years.
Joe Valdez had six saves for the Falcons (15-3, 1-0), who are ranked No. 10 in the Southern Section Division I poll. Lenny Malo had five goals for Villa Park (10-8, 0-1).
In nonleague play:
San Clemente 7, Corona del Mar 5--Trailing, 2-1, after one quarter, San Clemente--ranked fourth in Orange County--scored three consecutive goals and never fell behind again. Bryce Matthews scored four goals for the Tritons (9-5).
Crosby Grant scored two goals for the No. 3 Sea Kings (6-5).
In other nonleague play:
Capistrano Valley 21, University 3--Jake Yokota had eight goals for Capistrano Valley (11-1) in its victory over University. Teammate Moloughney had a school record of 11 assists.Steven Thornton had seven saves for Capistrano Valley.
