Crawford 23, Serra 16--Michael Bell caught four passes--two were touchdowns--for 71 yards and ran a kickoff back 86 yards for a touchdown for Crawford (3-3, 1-0). Colts quarterback Dominic Mosler was 10 for 15 for 128 yards, teammate Robbie Wadas rushed 11 times for 56 yards, and Altie Parker caught three passes for 42 yards and had an interception.

City Eastern League

Morse 31, Mira Mesa 7--Second-ranked Morse (6-0, 1-0) scored the same number of points as Mira Mesa did in 1991, when the Marauders trounced the Tigers. This year, quarterback Ray Barnes ran for touchdowns of four and three yards and threw a 26-yard touchdown strike. Morse rushed 37 times for 210 yards, including a 72-yard scoring run by fullback Conan Smith. Mira Mesa (2-4, 0-1) passed for 69 yards and rushed for 66. Morse had two interceptions.

City Harbor League

Coronado 13, Clairemont 0--Chad Walery scored both touchdowns for Coronado (3-3, 1-0). He had 102 yards and a touchdown on 18 rushes and he also returned an interception 35 yards for a score. Sophomore quarterback Scott Cole was eight for 17 for 84 yards. Clairemont (1-5, 0-1) was held to 108 yards.

City Western League

University City 27, USDHS 8--The Centurions’ five-game shutout string was halted in the third quarter, but they moved to 6-0, 2-0 with a balanced rushing attack. Paul Turner rushed for 106 yards on 10 carries, including a 48-yard touchdown. Fullback Ed Miller (15 carries, 87 yards) had scoring runs of one and two yards, and quarterback Daranzol Sheppard (10-62) scored on a seven-yard run. USDHS (2-4, 0-1) became the first team to score against UC with a 20-yard pass from Josh Merrill (9-of-16, 144 yards) to Chris Mattix.

Mission Bay 7, La Jolla 7--La Jolla’s Seth Hidalgo recovered a fumble on Mission Bay’s three-yard line with 9:15 remaining. Running back Jason Green scored on the next play to tie it. Mission Bay had a chance to win, but Steve Vincent’s 32-yard field-goal attempt was blocked Brandon Sprague as time ran out. Chris Liosi scored Mission Bay’s touchdown on a 64-yard pass from Vincent. Sonny Miller ran for 133 yards on 28 carries for Mission Bay (4-1-1, 0-0-1). La Jolla is 1-4-1, 0-0-1.

Avocado League

San Pasqual 25, Ramona 9--Ramona (0-6, 0-3) scored for the first time this season against fourth-ranked San Pasqual (6-0, 3-0). Jamon Buggs rushed eight times for 110 yards for San Pasqual, which gained 308 yards to Ramona’s 212.

Oceanside 28, San Marcos 0--San Marcos (0-5-1, 0-3) had only 13 total yards and did not cross Oceanside’s 30-yard line. Pirate quarterback John Portugal completed 14 of 23 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Aaron Durley caught six of Portugal’s passes for 70 yards and touchdown, George Sutton had six catches for 106 yards. Chris Hamer led the Pirates’ running attack with 13 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown. Oceanside improved to 3-3, 2-1.

El Camino 34, Carlsbad 0--No. 2 El Camino (5-1, 2-1) recorded its second consecutive shutout, exceeding its highest scoring by eight. Carlsbad fell to 2-4, 1-2.

Torrey Pines 42, Escondido 0--Gavin Hamels threw three touchdown passes, and Josh Stern rushed for two scores to lead Torrey Pines (5-1, 3-0). Hamels passed 59 yards to Joel Brown, 51 yards to Kyle Campbell and two yards to Joe Reed. Escondido fell to 1-5, 1-2.

Palomar League

Fallbrook 28, Rancho Bernardo 0--Running back Tim Pearson rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries, and quarterback John Dutton was 10 for 18 for 144 yards and a touchdown for Fallbrook (5-1, 2-1). Rancho Bernardo fell to 4-2, 1-2.

Metro Conference

Montgomery 28, Hilltop 3--Chris Weaver ran for 71 yards and a touchdown on seven carries and he also intercepted a pass for Montgomery (3-2-1, 2-1). Torey Paris added 62 yards on nine carries, including a four-yard touchdown and Tommy Connor scored on a 52-yard run. Hilltop fell to 0-6, 0-3.

Eight-Man Coastal League

Francis Parker 42, Borrego Springs 12--With four touchdown passes against Borrego Springs, Francis Parker quarterback Scott Schneider upped his season total to 30. Schneider was 13-for-25 for 279 yards. Matt Garrett caught 11 passes for 70 yards, and teammate Charles Pope caught six passes for 154 yards, two for touchdowns, and he ran for another touchdown. Parker improved to 3-3, 1-0.

La Jolla Country Day 26, Julian 23--La Jolla Country Day (1-3, 1-0) came back from a 15-point second-quarter deficit to upset Julian (4-1, 0-1). LJCD quarterback Chris Landry threw for one touchdown and ran for another as the Tores capitalized on Julian’s two botched snaps on punts. Trigger Reital caught Landry’s touchdown pass from 33 yards and ran for an eight-yard touchdown. Julian quarterback J.D. Yohner completed seven of 12 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown. Mark Smith added 100 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.

Nonleague

Kearny 26, Point Loma 13--The No. 7 Pointers (3-3) kept James Curtis out of the end zone, but that’s all. The senior running back rushed for 180 yards on 25 carries and threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Scooter Anderson (3 for 31, two touchdowns) in the Komet upset. Fullback Mike Gamble helped Kearny (5-1) overcome a 13-point deficit by scoring two touchdowns on runs of one and four yards.

El Capitan 34, Monte Vista 20--James Hopkins’ 169 yards on 29 carries and two touchdowns led a El Capitan running game that piled up 390 yards. Greg Ryan added 116 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries and quarterback Bobby Vickery ran for 88 yards on seven carries. Vickery also threw a touchdown pass to Ryan. El Capitan is 5-1, Monte Vista is 3-3.
