By rushing for 208 yards Saturday against Santa Clara, Cal State Northridge running back Jamal Farmer improved his yards per carry average from 1.0 to 5.6 and his yards per game average from 10.5 to 76.3.

Football: Duc Ngo leads Northridge receivers with 18 receptions, but he has only one in the last three games. Quarterback Marty Fisher has been throwing more to tight end Marlon McBride (13 catches for 137 yards this season) and to newcomers Saadite Green (eight for 153) and Victor Prince (four for 73). Green and Prince transferred from Cal State Fullerton a week into the season.

Here’s ball control: In its 35-6 win over L. A. Southwest, Glendale ran 76 plays compared to only 36 for the Cougars. Southwest gained 114 yards, compared to 467 for the Vaqueros. . . . Glendale quarterback Eric Kiesau threw his first interception of the season against Southwest. However, he also completed 12 of 18 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Kiesau, a sophomore, is rated third among Western State Conference passers with 49 completions in 84 attempts for 823 yards and six touchdowns. . . . Joe Mauldin of Valley leads the WSC with 901 passing yards. He has connected on 63 of 128 passes. . . . With 179 yards in 20 carries against Ventura, Valley’s Howard Blackwell (751 yards in 91 carries) took over the WSC rushing lead from Harbor’s Ira Moreland (704 in 105).

Soccer: By scoring three goals in two matches last week, Danny Daniels of Northridge has moved into third on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Pacific Division scoring list with 22 points. Daniels, a senior forward, has eight goals and six assists. His 31 career goals ranks sixth on the Northridge list, one behind Kola Phillip (1980-81) and two behind Rodney Batt (1984-87). . . . Northridge sophomore Louie Mata ranks third among MPSF Pacific Division goalkeepers with a 1.37 goals against average.

Volleyball: Northridge senior middle blocker Nancy Nicholls leads the Matadors with 282 kills and has 1,100 in her career. Kathleen Dixon, who played at Northridge from 1987-90, is the school’s career leader with 1,326. Nicholls also is second on the all-time Northridge list behind Dixon in solo blocks (89 to 75), block assists (360 to 278) and total blocks (449 to 353). . . .

With 859 assists this season, Northridge junior setter Alison Wool adds to her Matador career record with each successful set--3,101, and counting.
