Westlake 29, Simi Valley 28--Westlake receiver Dan Thompson caught an eight-yard touchdown pass from Brian Field with just over two minutes remaining to give the Warriors the lead for the first time at Simi Valley.

Thompson proved the most efficient weapon for Westlake as he caught 11 passes for 182 yards and the winning touchdown. Field completed 12 of 16 passes for 121 yards and one touchdown in a platooning situation with Kevin Cook, who was nine for 14 for 111 yards and one interception.

Running back Jason Bedell added a game-high 65 yards in 12 carries for Westlake (3-7, 3-4), which totaled 435 yards.

Simi Valley (6-4, 4-3) appeared to have the game in hand when it turned a 14-13 halftime lead into a 28-16 advantage after three quarters. Quarterback Eric Bennett led the charge by completing 17 of 37 passes for 272 yards, including touchdown passes to Aaron Whitley (11 yards) and Brian Kalbfus (28 yards).
