One thing Sass doesn’t have to worry about is who will score. A fellow named Curto will take care of that. Last year, Curto led the county during the regular season with 595 points and a 28.3 average as the Minutemen finished second in the Academy League. He’ll generate most of the offense again this season on a team that Sass said will have to exploit its speed and quickness to win. “We won’t even play a true center position this year,” said Sass, who took Liberty Christian to the Southern Section Division V-A quarterfinals in 1992. “I’m long on guards and short up front. That’s going to be our weakness. For us to do well, we’ll have to come up with a good team defensive effort night in and night out.” Vaccaro and Trippett, a transfer from Marina, will be a key tandem in the frontline. “He will provide a great deal of strength to our rebounding efforts,” Sass said. “He is very aggressive and is skilled at shooting the three (pointers).” Trippett’s twin sister, Jessica, is an All-Sunset League center on the Marina girls’ team. McClung, who is being promoted from the junior varsity, will be the point guard. “Robert’s main skills are his ball handling and passing,” Sass said.
