OUTLOOK

The Warriors don’t have a returning starter, but there’s plenty of help coming up from a championship sophomore team and a junior varsity team that tied for second in the league. Stenner is the team’s best player, and Hardeman is counting on him to average 20 points per game. “He’s going to be far better than anyone we had on the team last year,” Hardeman said. “He’s easily capable of scoring 20 points per game. He’s got these long arms, so he plays much bigger than his size. I think we can shoot with anybody, and our overall size is a plus factor.” If Troy has a weakness, it’s team speed. Hardeman said the team’s goal is to be playing its best to start the second round of league play. Abbott is the younger brother of Randy Abbott, one of the county’s leading free throw shooters two seasons ago. “Sonora is the favorite, and then after that, it’s a coin toss between everybody else,” he said. “I think if you put (Sonora’s) Chris St. Clair on any other team, they’d win the league.” Hardeman isn’t happy with his team’s opening tournament at Valencia, where only four teams are entered. “We’re playing three games in round-robin format. It’s like having nonleague games on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.”
