Women’s Tournament : Features UCI vs. Tulane

IRVINE — First-round play in the Disneyland/Freedom Bowl women’s basketball tournament begins tonight at the Bren Center with Boise State playing La Salle at 6 followed by UC Irvine against Tulane.
Irvine, led by Yvonne Catala and Karie Yoshioka, lost its season opener to Pepperdine, 82-60. Tulane, which opens its season tonight, finished 9-19 last season.
Boise State finished 22-7 last season and defeated Washington, 82-78, in its opener. La Salle finished 25-8 last season and defeated Pennsylvania, 83-77, in its opener.
The tournament concludes Saturday with the championship game at 7 p.m. and the consolation game at 5 p.m.
