O.C. Water Polo All-Star Game Set for Saturday

Daniel Mathot and Jason Murray of El Toro, the Southern Section Division I champion, are expected to be among the players featured in the Orange County all-star water polo match scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Tustin High School.

Mathot and Murray would play for a South team that also is expected to feature Capistrano Valley’s Jeremy Braxton-Brown, MVP of the South Coast League, and Bryce Matthews of San Clemente. The North team probably would include Craig Thomas and Eric Poole, who helped Esperanza to the Division II title.

Only seniors are eligible for the match. Rosters will not be final until tryouts are completed this week.

Santa Ana Valley’s Kirk Dennis will coach the North. Marina’s Dave Pickford will coach the South, which won last season’s match, 17-8. The teams have split the first six matches.

Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children.
