ALL-SOUTHERN SECTION VOLLEYBALL : Wacholder, Coleman Named Division I Players of Year

Volleyball players Rachel Wacholder of Laguna Beach High and Kim Coleman of Corona del Mar have been named co-players of the year for Southern Section Division I.

Coleman, a junior setter, led Corona del Mar to a 24-0 record, the State and section championships and the No. 1 ranking in USA Today’s national poll. Corona del Mar’s Lance Stewart was named the Division I coach of the year.

Wacholder, a senior outside hitter and two-time Times’ Orange County player of the year, led the Artists to the Southern Section and State championship matches. She has committed to Colorado.

Capistrano Valley Christian’s Kathleen Bunce was named the Division V player of the year, and St. Margaret’s Susie Teitsworth was the Division VI player of the year.

Sunny Hills’ Ron Kasser was co-coach of the year in Division II with Kim Willeman of Bishop Montgomery.
