Bill Mazurie came off the bench to score 19 points, including four in a row during the final minutes, to lead Loyola Marymount to a 66-61 victory over Cal State Sacramento in a nonconference game Saturday night.

After the Hornets (0-7) closed to within 59-57 with 2:22 remaining, Mazurie made two free throws and a jump shot as the Lions (3-3) quelled the rally. Mazurie had 14 points in the second half and seven assists for the game.

Zan Mason added 13 points and Christian Scott had 12 for the Lions, who made 58% of their shots but were stymied by the deliberate play of Sacramento. Sean Colter led the Hornets with 19 points.

Said Loyola Coach John Olive: “(Sacramento) is aggressive, athletic, and tonight they outplayed us. We did make a couple of key defensive stops down the stretch to pull out the win, but we are disappointed the game was as close as it was.”

Forty-two of the Lions’ 66 points were scored by reserves.
