In another men’s basketball game:

Canyons 71, Victor Valley 66--Steve Tampus hit a baseline jump shot with 30 seconds left to break a 66-66 tie, then sealed the victory in the consolation final of the Cypress tournament with a steal and layup. Tampus scored 16 points to pace Canyons (7-7), and Deshawn Harvey and Jason Joynes added 13 and 11 points. G.C. Marcaccini came off the bench to score 14 points and grab 11 rebounds.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Sierra 68, Pierce 51--Sierra led from start to finish in the nonconference game at Pierce. Autumn Hollyfield scored 29 points for Sierra (7-4).

For Pierce (4-7), Shani Samuel scored 19 points and Yolanda Davidian added 17.

Golden West 91, Ventura 72--Cinnamon Basco had 24 points and 16 rebounds for host Golden West (12-2).

Jennifer Wells had 19 points and seven rebounds for Ventura (6-4). Tara Sanders added 16 points and Erica Probasco had eight assists.

Orange Coast 81, Valley 68--The Monarchs managed to stay close until the final six minutes, when undefeated Orange Coast (13-0) scored six points in a row to extend a two-point margin and breeze to a win in the semifinals of its own tournament.

Rosa Mendez paced Valley (10-2) with 15 points. Angie Quezada and Michelle Cabaldon each scored 12.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Las Vegas Western 90, Simi Valley 68--Senior guard Prince Fowler scored 43 points, nearly all on long-distance jump shots (including three three-point baskets) to destroy Simi Valley in the opening round of the El Dorado tournament in Las Vegas.

Jeff Barlow led the Pioneers (4-2) with 18 points. Vernon Simmons had eight points and 10 rebounds.

University 57, Birmingham 52 (2 OTs)--The Warriors made seven of eight free throws in the second overtime to win the Hamilton tournament final. Greg Whiteside led Birmingham with 19 points and Raffi Kassadian added 12.

Notre Dame 69, San Fernando 47--Monte Marcaccini had 22 points and 11 rebounds and Glen Carson added 19 points for Notre Dame (8-3) in a championship semifinal of the La Canada tournament.

Burroughs 87, Harvard-Westlake 86--Mike Merina sank two free throws with three seconds to play to send Burroughs to the consolation final of the La Canada tournament.

J.W. Hobson had 28 points, a school-record 10 steals, and hit a jump shot to put Harvard-Westlake ahead with 12 seconds to play.

Scott Garson (24 points) and Ben Pfister (15) also scored in double figures for Harvard-Westlake (3-3). Gabe Colon led Burroughs with 25 points.

St. Francis 74, Schurr 62--The Golden Knights survived a late scare to win a consolation semifinal of the La Canada tournament.

Jon Morales and Rome Douglas came off the bench to combine for 29 points for St. Francis (4-3).

Bell-Jeff 68, Desert 64 (OT)--Danny Mancinelli made a three-point shot with 16 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the score, then accounted for all seven of Bell-Jeff’s points in overtime to lead the Guards to third place in the Rosamond tournament.

St. Genevieve 82, Mary Star 70--Ryan McGinnis scored a school-record 38 points and had 19 rebounds as visiting St. Genevieve avenged an earlier loss to Mary Star. Jeremy Iaccino added 28 points and seven assists for St. Genevieve (5-5).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Hart 56, Kennedy 44--A 10-0 run to open the fourth period propelled Hart into the quarterfinals of the Simi Valley tournament. Shannon Martin had 23 points and 13 rebounds.

WRESTLING

Rio Mesa 10-Way--The host Spartans and Thousand Oaks each won eight of 10 dual meets to finish in a tie for second place in the tournament. Title-winner Savanna went undefeated.

Camarillo (5-5) finished fifth, Westlake (4-6) sixth, Fillmore (2-8) eighth and Santa Paula last.

Heavyweight Jim Starr won all 10 of his matches and was Rio Mesa’s only division winner.

Tom Nelford (161 pounds) and Andy Ferrari (190) finished second for the Spartans, and John Beppu (104), Jesse Campos (120) and Augustin Zapien (131) placed third for Rio Mesa.

For Thousand Oaks, David Greding (104), Tim Bonebright (141) and Jon Gonzales (146) placed second. Donnie Lynch, who won the 135-pound class, was Camarillo’s top performer.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Royal 3, Simi Valley 1--Amanda Love, Kelly Adamson and Maggie Perez each scored a goal to lead Royal to the Simi Valley tournament championship. Goalie Gina Putnam had seven saves for Royal (5-2).

Heather Heit had the only Simi Valley goal and goalie Jennifer Hahn had 11 saves.

Louisville 2, La Canada 1--Sisters Kim and Cindy Daws each scored goals to lead Louisville (7-2-1) to the consolation “A” title of the Simi Valley tournament.
