OUTLOOK With eight returning lettermen on the roster, including five starters, the Heralds could make a run at the Olympic League title after a disappointing fifth-place finish last season. “For whatever reason, the team didn’t really click last season,” said Randall, in his fourth season at Whittier Christian. “This year is a lot different. We are more cohesive, there’s more team unity, we are working hard in practice. There’s a better attitude on the team.” There’s also a solid group of players. Dalla Corte, who averaged 8.6 points in 1991-92, moves from point guard to off guard with newcomer Borders--a left-handed pitcher on the school’s baseball team--taking over the ballhandling duties. Kempton, who averaged 10.3 points, and Huizing, who averaged 9.5 points, are the scoring threats. Randall, however, feels that defense will be the team’s forte. “We run a 1-2-2 zone,” Randall said. “That’s our biggest asset this year. We are a very tough defensive team.” If they can consistently keep their opponents at bay, Randall said the Heralds can go a long way. “I think we’ve got the tools to do it (win league) this year,” he said.
