OUTLOOK

Coming off the best season in the school’s history, the Tritons appear to have enough experience and depth to issue a strong challenge to Capistrano Valley for the league championship once again. San Clemente was unable to defeat the Cougars last season and finished second. Netherby (7.8-point average) and MacIntyre (8.0) were second-team all-league performers last season and return to the starting lineup. Mulligan thinks MacIntyre is ready to blossom into one of the county’s top point guards. Bolstering Triton hopes is Geminert (6-0) who is up from last season’s JV team, which shared the league’s championship. Lee, Shawna Waldner and Rodriguez are other returners expected to contribute. Mulligan has been impressed with Mauck, a transfer. The Tritons will try to emphasize a fast-paced game with their overall quickness. If they appear vulnerable anywhere, it is lack of size with Geminert the only six-footer. The Tritons should battle for the league title.
