Cal State Fullerton announced Thursday that Titan men’s soccer Coach Al Mistri will assume the added duties of heading the women’s program, which will begin play next fall.

Mistri, 46, has a career record of 123-97-21 in 12 seasons at Fullerton and guided the Titans to a 12-6 record and a share of the Mountain Pacific Soccer Federation Pacific Division championship this past season.

Mistri will begin putting together a schedule and recruiting players for the women’s team in January and hopes to have a roster of 15 or 16 players, mostly from the current student body, to compete in spring games. The women’s team will also compete in the MPSF.

Fullerton agreed to add women’s soccer as part of an out-of-court settlement of the volleyball team’s gender equity lawsuit against the school last spring.
