Small Quake Rattles Mojave Desert Area

Share

A minor earthquake rattled the Mojave Desert late Saturday afternoon, but there were no reports of injuries or damage.

The 3.7 magnitude temblor that struck at 4:18 was an aftershock of the Landers-Big Bear quakes of last June, according to seismologists at Caltech. Saturday’s earthquake was centered 12 miles southeast of Lucerne Valley, a town about 70 miles east of Los Angeles.

“It was just a small little shaker,” said Fire Capt. Bill Oliver.
