GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Robledo Scores 34, Sparks Santiago to 69-58 Victory Over Edison

America Robledo scored 34 points, her career high, to help Santiago to a 69-58 victory over Edison Tuesday in the semifinals of the Santiago Cavalier girls’ basketball tournament.

Robledo, a senior point guard, also had nine assists and 12 rebounds for Santiago (6-2), which advanced to play Corona del Mar in the championship game at 8 tonight.

Robledo was 12 of 14 from the free-throw line. With Santiago holding a three-point lead after three quarters, Robledo scored 15 of the Cavaliers’ 26 fourth-quarter points.

Leila Ryan had 17 points for Edison.

In other Cavalier games:

Corona del Mar 58, Sonora 36--Mollie Flint scored 26 points and Rosalie Kane added 19 to lead Corona del Mar (7-1) to a semifinal victory. The Sea Kings held Sonora to fewer than 10 points in each of the final three quarters.

El Modena 49, Pacifica 34--Jamie Shine had 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead El Modena (1-7) to the consolation final at 5 p.m. today.

In the Western tournament:

Kennedy 46, Steveston (B.C., Canada) 41--Lynly Matsumoto scored 16 points and hit three three-pointers for Kennedy in a semifinal. Karin Kitagawa had 14 points and six assists for Kennedy (6-3), which advanced to play Western in the championship game at 5:30 p.m. today. Steveston (12-1) has been undefeated the last two years.

Western 56, Loara 33--Kwanzaa Gibson scored 17 points for Western (7-5), and teammate Charlotte Watley had 11 points and eight rebounds in the other semifinal.

Magnolia 47, Savanna 36--Stoni Isaacks had 15 points and 20 rebounds and Gillian Geraghty had 13 points for Magnolia (5-5) in a consolation semifinal.

Esperanza 68, Anaheim 15--Melanie Wall scored 23 points for Esperanza (8-4), and teammate Jodie Howard had 13 points in a consolation game.

In the Cerritos Gahr tournament:

Mater Dei 61, Inglewood 32--Leticia Oseguera had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Monarchs (8-3) in a consolation semifinal.

In the Artesia Tournament:

Trabuco Hills 42, Lakewood St. Joseph’s 30--Jennifer Ross scored 13 points and Rhonda Luckey added 12 points to lead Trabuco Hills to a quarterfinal victory.

In the Ramona Tournament:

San Diego Kerney 48, Capistrano Valley Christian 36--Melissa Krause scored 13 points to lead Kerney to a semifinal victory. Capistrano Valley Christian (6-3) got 20 points and 20 rebounds from Ivana Kovacic.

In nonleague play:

El Dorado 39, Santa Ana 28--Senior guard Jody Caruso scored 10 points for El Dorado (12-0). Santa Ana is 7-2.

Century 46, Sunny Hills 44--Nina Alexander had 20 points and 16 rebounds to lead Century (6-6) over Sunny Hills (4-7).
