4 From Region on Central All-Star Team

Offensive lineman Jose Bernal and defensive lineman German Chavez, who helped Bell Gardens advance to the CIF Southern Section Division III championship game where it lost to Hawthorne, head the selections on the The Times’ Central All-Star High School Football team.
William Mendez, a defensive back from Bell, and Steve Medina, an offensive lineman from South Gate, were among the Southeast-area players chosen to the team.
The team will be honored at 9 a.m. Jan. 17 at a breakfast at the University Hilton in Los Angeles.
