Last week, Robledo was at her best when the end of the game was near. She scored 15 points in the fourth quarter on her way to a career-high 34 points in a 69-58 victory over Edison in the semifinals of the Santiago tournament. “She’s one of those athletes who wants the ball in crunch time,” Santiago Coach Ron Heusser said. “A lot want to get rid of the ball, but she wants it.” Robledo proved that again when she led the Cavaliers to a 57-53 overtime victory over Corona del Mar in the tournament’s title game. Santiago scored six points in overtime--all by Robledo. She scored 18 in the game and was named most valuable player of the tournament. In three games, Robledo, a 5-foot-7 point guard, averaged 26 points, 9.3 assists and eight rebounds for the Cavaliers (7-2).

Other top performers:

Erin Bailey, Lynne Thiel and Shauna Itri, who were named to the all-tournament team at the Excalibur soccer tournament after leading Edison to a shootout victory over Encinitas San Dieguito in the title game. Earlier in the day, Thiel scored the only goal on a penalty kick when Edison beat El Toro, then-ranked No. 1 in the county.

Olivia DiCamilli, who had 26 points and 11 rebounds as Costa Mesa defeated Arroyo Grande, 53-44, to win the title of the Costa Mesa tournament. DiCamilli was named the most valuable player.
