GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Despite Flint’s 35 Points, Woodbridge Is a Winner

Jamie Oenning made the front end of a one-and-one with 12 seconds remaining in overtime to help Woodbridge to a 64-62 victory over Corona del Mar in a Sea View League girls’ basketball game Tuesday at Corona del Mar.

Oenning missed the second free throw, but Corona del Mar committed a turnover with one second remaining and didn’t attempt a last-second shot.

Mollie Flint scored a game-high 35 points, including three fourth-quarter three-pointers, to help the Sea Kings erase a 41-21 halftime deficit.

Melanie Pearson scored 18 points, and Nicole Quinn added 13 points and 15 rebounds for Woodbridge (8-4, 1-0). Oenning finished with 14 points.

Rosalie Kane scored 12 points for Corona del Mar (7-3, 0-1).

In other Sea View League games:

Newport Harbor 71, Saddleback 25--Michaela Ross had a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds for 10th-ranked Newport Harbor (6-5, 1-0). Center Melissa Schutz added 18 points for the Sailors.

Tustin 64, Irvine 35--Sarah Davis had 11 points for Tustin (5-6, 1-0).

University 45, Santa Margarita 38--Jennifer Stanley scored 14 points for visiting University (5-5, 1-0). Lesley Nolan scored 15 points for Santa Margarita (2-7, 0-1).

In the Olympic League:

Capistrano Valley Christian 64, Orange Lutheran 44--Heidi Elliott and Ivana Kovacic each scored 17 points to lead visiting Capistrano Valley Christian (8-3, 1-0). Kristin Weddick scored 19 for Orange Lutheran (6-4, 0-1).

Whittier Christian 61, Brethren Christian 27--Joanna Giforos had 13 points for visiting Whittier Christian (7-4, 1-0).

In nonleague girls’ basketball:

Century 60, Foothill 16--Laura Zepeda scored 18 points and Ruth Vallejo and Nina Alexander each had 14 for host Century (7-6). Foothill is 1-12.

Costa Mesa 59, San Clemente 56--Olivia DiCamilli scored 24 points and Yool Kim added 14 for visiting Costa Mesa (10-4), the fourth-ranked team in the county. Michelle MacIntyre and Dana Netherby scored 18 points each for San Clemente (8-6).

Cypress 77, Anaheim 19--Jessica Eggleston set a school single-game scoring record with 41 points for Cypress (9-5). Eggleston, a junior, made 20 of 24 shots from the field. Julie Adams added 24 points for Cypress.

El Dorado 49, Villa Park 32--Jody Caruso scored 16 and Nicole DeBruijn had 12 points for host El Dorado (13-0), ranked sixth in the county.

El Modena 38, Laguna Hills 32--Jamie Shine had 13 points and 14 rebounds for visiting El Modena (3-7). Jennifer Arzola had 12 points for Laguna Hills.

Katella 30, Valencia 28--Rachel Davis scored 22 points to lead Katella (10-2). Valencia is 1-10.

Liberty Christian 75, Riverside Christian 18--Junior forward Rosemary Cugno had 16 points to lead Liberty Christian (5-5). Riverside Christian is 0-3.

Magnolia 32, Sunny Hills 22--Dawn Sanchez and Jillian Geraghty each scored six points to lead Magnolia (7-5) past Sunny Hills (3-7).

Mater Dei 83, Western 39--Leticia Oseguera had 26 points and 11 rebounds and Adrienne Botana added 13 for host Mater Dei (10-3), ranked eighth in the county. Jenny Christensen scored 13 points for Western (7-7).
