Mira Costa Football Coach Resigns
Bill Lysle resigned Wednesday as Mira Costa High’s football coach. In two seasons under Lysle, the Mustangs were 7-12-1 and twice finished in last place in the Ocean League. They were 3-6-1 last season.
“I decided (to resign) about four or five months ago, but I tried to find reasons to stay,” said Lysle, who was a walk-on coach. “This is for the good of the program.
“Being a walk-on, you have to put everything else on hold in your life. The guy who runs the program should be here full-time to monitor the kids. (Mira Costa) needs to hire a full-time teacher-coach.”
Lysle said a good candidate would be Jim Beaumont, Mira Costa’s baseball coach and a freshman football coach at the school.
