Lautenschlager Wins 1-Meter Diving Event

Janae Lautenschlager of Northridge won the one-meter springboard in the Nathan Meade International Diving meet in Sydney, Australia, last weekend.

Lautenschlager, a Granada Hills High graduate, scored 265.92 points, defeating Jodie Rogers (238.80) of Australia and Mary Ellen Clark (238.20), a 1992 Olympic medalist from the United States.

In the three-meter competition, Lautenschlager, a member of the U.S. national team, scored 472.05 points to finish second to Australia’s Rachel Wilkes (490.02). Clark was third with 469.83.

Oscar Wilson of Rancho Santiago College signed a national letter of intent Tuesday with Cal State Northridge.

Wilson, a 6-foot-3, 285-pound defensive tackle, made 53 tackles last fall. As a freshman, he was a second-team All-Mission Conference selection.

Fillmore senior Jamie Arundell has committed to play women’s basketball at Army next fall.

The 6-1 senior, a Times All-Ventura County performer last season, holds nearly all of Fillmore’s records for scoring, rebounding and blocked shots.

Arundell will be the first player from Fillmore to play Division I women’s basketball.

Former Bell-Jeff volleyball standout Andrea Ferchaw, a freshman outside hitter at Cal State Los Angeles, has been named to the NCAA Division II All-American second team.

Ferchaw, an All-Southern Section middle blocker in 1991 at Bell-Jeff, helped CSLA to a 25-10 record.

Moorpark High has scheduled an alumni basketball game for Jan. 30 at 3 p.m. Admission is $7.
