Orange County’s Best Point Guard? Every Coach Claims to Have Him

Share

Every boys’ basketball coach seems to have the “best” point guard in Orange County this season.

Santa Margarita Coach Jerry DeBusk went so far as to jokingly tell a reporter to print that Adam Dzierzynski was the best point guard in Orange County or he would cancel his subscription.

Santa Ana Valley Coach Rich Prospero, who was an assistant with DeBusk at Chapman College, is ready to settle the matter.

“Tell Jerry to send his guy up and (Falcon guard) Anthony Porter will play him to decide the matter,” Prospero said, smiling. “The winner is the best in Orange County.”

Well, maybe. Other coaches also have been on the P.R. circuit:

--Capistrano Valley Coach Mark Thornton on senior David Sedgwick.

--Mater Dei Coach Gary McKnight on senior Kamran Sufi.

--Ocean View Coach Jim Harris on senior, and son, Jimmy Harris.

--Sonora Coach Mike Murphy on senior Chris St. Clair.

--Trabuco Hills Coach Rainer Wulf on senior Brett Poulos.

--Tustin Coach Andy Ground on sophomore Doug Gottlieb.

--Westminster Coach Brian Underwood on senior Robert Ishii.

All have at one time or another called their player the “best” point guard in Orange County.

Gentlemen, life’s too short.
