In other Orange Empire Conference baseball games:

Fullerton 2, Golden West 1--Brent Lacher scored on a Steve Friedrich single in the eighth inning for visiting Fullerton (9-12, 2-7). Brent Coon hit a home run in the seventh inning to tie the score, 1-1, for Fullerton. Golden West is 9-9, 3-4.

Riverside 6, Saddleback 5--The Gauchos (13-6, 4-5) were trailing by two runs in the bottom of the ninth, when Wade Jackson, who had three hits, doubled home Mitchell Pang from second. But Riverside’s Jason Whittle got Neil Garcia to line out to right field to end the game.

Bobby Jones hit two home runs and had five RBIs for Riverside (15-7, 5-4), which stole eight bases and threw two Saddleback runners out at home.

Dennis Crine struck out nine in seven innings for the Gauchos (13-6, 4-5).

In a nonconference game:

Orange Coast 9, College of the Desert 2--OCC first baseman Jason Parsons had three hits including a three-run double in the eighth and a two-run single in the fourth. Winning pitcher Carlos Cevallos allowed five hits, two runs, one walk and struck out two in five innings for OCC (12-8).

At the Cuesta Invitational swim meet:

Golden West men win--The Rustlers won the 200 medley and the 400 and 800 freestyle relays and finished with 734.5 points to win the team title at Cuesta.

Grant Ferguson won the 100 and 200 breaststroke for Orange Coast, which finished third with 464.

In the women’s meet, Lynn Sansui won the 50 and 100 breaststroke to help Orange Coast win the team championship with 581 points. Cuesta was second at 563, and Golden West finished fourth with 281. Orange Coast also won the 200 medley and 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
