Santa Barbara City 15, Canyons 10--The Vaqueros got the best of a Western State Conference game that featured 29 hits and seven home runs. For Santa Barbara (8-7 in conference), Tony Lopez had two home runs and three runs batted in, Mike Pryor hit a three-run shot, and John Krause had a solo blast. Andy Shaw hit his conference-leading eighth homer for Canyons, which was shut out for five innings by side-armer Tom Swankowsky, who got the victory.

Oxnard 11, Glendale 7--With his team trailing, 7-6, in the eighth inning, Adrian Estrada doubled in a run to tie the score, and Ralph Guillen hit a decisive two-run home run for Oxnard. Chris Gonzales struck out the side in the ninth for his second save.

Cal Lutheran 10-7, UC San Diego 5-2--Carlos Cardenas capped a four-run fourth inning that wiped out a 2-1 UCSD lead and put the Kingsmen ahead for good in the championship game of the UCSD Tournament. Starting pitcher Mike Winslow (4-0) gave up two unearned runs in seven innings for the victory.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

Cal Lutheran 9, Luther College 9--The Norse scored seven runs in the final two innings of the Cal Lutheran Tournament championship game, and the game was called because of darkness after the seventh inning.

The Regals (10-5-1) were declared champions because of their two tournament victories earlier in the day.

Cal Lutheran’s Aimee Snider went four for five and scored three runs as the Regals built a 9-2 lead after five innings.
