HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Tubb Goes Long and Thousand Oaks Comes Up Short, 8-7

Jason Tubb hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Newbury Park an 8-7 Marmonte League victory over Thousand Oaks Friday at Newbury Park.
Newbury Park (6-6, 4-1) had a 6-3 lead before Thousand Oaks (6-6, 1-3) scored four runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead.
Tubb, who hit a solo homer in the sixth inning, had three hits, three runs batted in and two runs.
Ray Clinton (4-1) pitched two-thirds of an inning of relief to improve to 3-0 in league play.
In other high school baseball games:
Burbank 2, Saugus 1--Eric Beardsley singled home Gino Archuleta with the go-ahead run in the fifth inning, and relievers Ramiro Alvarez and Shawn Montgomery made it stand up for the Bulldogs (6-3, 1-2) in a Foothill League game at Burbank.
Alvarez (2-1) pitched 1 1/3 innings to get the victory, and Montgomery retired five consecutive batters to get his first save.
Bobby Cowan (1-3) took the loss in relief for Saugus (7-5, 0-3).
Antelope Valley 20, Highland 3--Eric Cole drove in eight runs with a grand slam, an RBI double, a two-run single and a sacrifice fly for the Antelopes. James Juneau was three for three and scored four times.
San Marcos 9, Buena 4--The Royals (8-1-1, 4-0) took sole possession of the Channel League lead. Buena is 7-3, 2-2.
Oak Park 14, St. Bonaventure 13--The Eagles overcame a 10-run deficit to win a Tri-Valley League game called because of darkness after six innings at Agoura.
The Seraphs (3-8-1, 2-1) scored a run in the first inning and nine in the second to lead, 10-0. Oak Park (5-3, 2-1) scored four in the third and eight in the fourth to grab a 12-10 lead.
St. Bonaventure regained the lead, 13-12, with three in the top the sixth, but the Eagles scored four in the bottom of the inning for the victory.
Quartz Hill 12, Ridgecrest Burroughs 2--Right fielder William Wallace drove in five runs with three hits, including his seventh home run of the season, and the Rebels (7-2, 5-0) won a Golden League game at Quartz Hill.
Quartz Hill left fielder Freddy Coleman missed a chance to hit for the cycle by only having three official at-bats. Coleman had a double, triple and his first home run of the season.
Roger Worley pitched two-hitter, striking out nine.
Ventura 16, Oxnard 9--Dewayne Mathis doubled and tripled twice for Ventura. Teammates Lyle Camarrillo (home run, four RBIs) and Monte Moritz each had three hits in a Channel League game.
Palmdale 16, Littlerock 0--Brian Welsh threw a two-hit shutout to lead the Falcons to a romp in a Golden League victory over the Lobos at Palmdale.
Welsh improved to 2-0 for Palmdale (8-1-1, 3-1-1). Chris Paxton drove in five runs with a pair of doubles for Palmdale.
Santa Paula 8, Calabasas 6--Brian Whittaker worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth and pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn a save in a Frontier League game at Santa Paula (6-3, 2-2).
Calabasas is 7-2-1, 2-1.
Moorpark 11, Nordhoff 0--Rick Collier had three hits for the Musketeers in a Frontier League victory. Richard Hernandez and Jason Adamson had two hits apiece for Moorpark (5-3, 2-2).
Muir 4, Glendale 0--Freshman pitcher Brian Chan (0-1) lasted only two innings, allowing three hits and three earned runs for Glendale (5-4, 1-4) at Pasadena.
Channel Islands 3, Westlake 2--Fred Griscavage’s sacrifice fly scored Adrian Castellon with the winning run in the 11th inning of a Marmonte League game at Channel Islands (5-6, 2-3).
Rio Mesa 6, Santa Barbara 2--Greg Spink tossed a five-hitter, striking out eight, in a Channel League game at Rio Mesa.
Canyon 10, Burroughs 4--Pat McDermott (2-0) pitched five innings of relief in a Foothill League victory at Canyon Country.
Steve Bench hit his first home run for Canyon (5-4, 2-0).
Camarillo 10, Royal 7--Mike Corral, who was the winning pitcher in relief, broke a 6-6 tie with a three-run double for Camarillo (4-9, 2-3) in the sixth inning of a Marmonte League game.
BOYS’ TRACK
Birmingham 85 1/2, North Hollywood 41 1/2--Senior Tony Serpas of Birmingham won the 100 and 200 meters and anchored the victorious 400 relay team in the Valley-Pac 8 Conference meet.
It was the 46th consecutive dual-meet victory for Birmingham (3-0, 3-0), the defending City Section champion.
Serpas timed personal bests of 10.6 seconds in the 100 and 21.7 in the 200. The Braves’ 400 relay team timed a season best of 44.6.
SOFTBALL
Crescenta Valley 2, Rosemead 1--MacKenzie Mallory scored from third base on a ground out by Becky Settle in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Falcons a nonleague victory over the Panthers at Crescenta Valley.
Sophomore Danielle Robertshaw (7-0), who has three no-hitters, allowed her first run in 48 innings.
Chaminade 4, Louisville 0--Freshman Kaylene Boldroff pitched a one-hitter in a Mission League victory at Chaminade.
Boldroff (5-2) retired the first 20 batters. Bridgete Hayes went three for three with two RBIs for Chaminade (7-5, 2-3).
Burroughs 4, Royal 3--The Indians (3-5) scored three runs in bottom of the seventh to tie the score and added one in the ninth on Kristina Bullock’s RBI single to win a nonleague game.
After Catherine Rang hit a two-run home run with one out in the seventh, Gina Punarr singled and circled the bases on three errors.
