Orange Coast 5, Riverside 4--Rich Ernst had a two-run double as OCC (22-15, 12-8) rallied for four runs to take a 5-3 lead in the seventh at Riverside (25-14, 11-10).

Rancho Santiago 6, Golden West 4--Matt Kastelic’s run-scoring single broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh and Brandon Hoalton earned his 10th victory for Rancho Santiago (20-6 in conference).

In the women’s State swimming and diving championships in Salinas:

OCC sets records--In the first day of the three-day competition, two state records were broken by swimmers from Orange Coast. In the 400 medley relay, Brandi Kossib, Lynn Sansui, Kristine Hansen and Michelle Quigley, broke the state record of 4:02.83, swimming a 3:59.88. Kossib, who led off the relay with the backstroke, broke the state 100 backstroke record.
