Notre Dame Dismisses Miller

Share

Eddie Miller, a standout freshman for the Notre Dame High basketball team last season, has been dismissed from the school because he failed three classes in a year, Coach Pete Cassidy said Wednesday.

“I would say it is very unlikely Eddie will ever play basketball for Notre Dame again,” Cassidy said.

Miller, a 6-foot-8 forward, helped the Knights to their first Southern Section championship last season. He missed most of the season with a back injury, then played the final three regular-season games and in the playoffs.

He would have been the top returnee from a team with a starting lineup consisting, for the most part, of five seniors.

“There’s no doubt that having Eddie Miller makes your team instantly better,” Cassidy said. “I’m more worried about what happens to him.”

Miller, who is also potentially one of the area’s top high jumpers, could not be reached for comment.

He lives in the Cleveland High district.
