PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Tempers Flare Among Linemen
It took three days for the Raiders to have their first fight in training camp at Oxnard. During Wednesday afternoon’s practice last year’s top draft choice, Chester McGlockton, fought offensive lineman Rich Stephens in a pass-blocking drill.
“It’s the third day of practice, which is normally a tough day--the hump day,” Coach Art Shell said. “Tempers kind of get hot and a couple of big guys started to wrestle.”
McGlockton, down to 310 pounds after weighing more than 325 last year, has been impressive on the defensive line.

The Raiders began rookie and free agent training camp with five wide receivers, but are down to three. Free agents James Jett, a world-class sprinter from West Virginia, and J.J. Celestine, who played at Cal State Fullerton and Riverside Notre Dame High, have been slowed because of leg injuries.
“We have to slow it down and do more teaching because we don’t have a whole lot of bodies,” Shell said. The Raiders’ three injury-free receivers in camp are Daryl Hobbs, who played at University High; Charles Jordan, who played at Long Beach City College; and John Morton, from Western Michigan. Orlanda Truitt, the team’s fifth-round choice from Mississipi State, has not signed.
