AKILI ROBERSON, Locke, 5-11, 177--The Saints’ best quarterback prospect since Darian Hagan.

KEITH SMITH, Newbury Park, 5-10, 175--Ventura County’s top player passed for 3,318 yards and 30 touchdowns.

RUNNING BACK

TYRONE CRENSHAW, Sylmar, 6-0, 180--City 4-A player of the year rushed for 1,875 yards and 22 touchdowns.

RAMOD LEE, Moreno Valley Valley View, 6-2, 205--Averaged seven yards a carry while rushing for 27 touchdowns.

RODNEY SERMONS, La Puente Bishop Amat, 5-11, 175--A speedy runner with great hands.

WIDE RECEIVER

BRIAN FINNERAN, Rancho Santa Margarita, 6-5, 195--Twin Brad is also star receiver for Eagles. JUSTIN STALLINGS, Hawthorne, 6-0, 195--Busy player who also makes big impact as defensive back.

LEODES VAN BUREN, Newbury Park, 5-11, 185--Speedy receiver had 1,330 yards and 15 touchdowns last season.

TIGHT END

ROME DOUGLAS, Claremont, 6-6, 235--A quick end who can catch and block equally well.

TONY GONZALEZ, Huntington Beach, 6-5, 225--Area’s top recruit also starts at linebacker.

MICHAEL JACKSON, Santa Monica, 6-1, 240--On a winless team, Jackson had 800 yards and seven touchdowns.

OFFENSIVE LINE

RICKY AUSTIN, Rialto Eisenhower, 6-2, 290--Anchors one of the Eagles’ most talented teams in years.

CALEB BROWN, Santa Barbara San Marcos, 6-4, 295--Returning all-state player who impressed scouts during the summer.

COLEMAN JOHNSON, Riverside Poly, 6-2, 255--Two-way starter who makes impact on both sides of line.

DAVID PRATCHARD, Canyon Country Canyon, 6-5, 260--Another in long line of talented prospects to come out of Canyon.

MATT REDMAN, Palos Verdes Peninsula, 6-7, 287--His size alone has attracted recruiters.

DEFENSIVE LINE

DANJUAN MAGEE, Long Beach Poly, 6-0, 255--Versatile player has started on both sides of the line.

THOR SCHMIDT, Santa Barbara Bishop Diego, 6-2, 220--Although he loves to rush the quarterback, recruiters project him at linebacker.

BRANDON WHITING, Long Beach Poly, 6-3, 255--Son of Coach Thomas Whiting, Brandon had 61 tackles and 12 sacks.

NORMAN YSAGUIRRE, Dorsey, 6-0, 290--Makes up in strength what he lacks in height.

LINEBACKER

CHRIS DRAFT, Placentia Valencia, 6-0, 200--Had 122 tackles last season and is being recruited as a defensive back.

DENNIS FOMOND, Crenshaw, 5-11, 212--Made 174 tackles and rushed for 18 touchdowns.

GEORGE PERRY III, San Bernardino, 6-6, 240--A strong player who bench-presses 405 pounds.

JASON REYNOLDS, Tustin, 6-2, 240--The Tillers’ all-around athlete who can play any position. DEFENSIVE BACK

ROMMEL BUTLER, Simi Valley Royal, 6-0, 180--Ten interceptions last season helped Butler to preseason All-American honors.

KADAR HAMILTON, Loyola, 6-0, 200--Transfer from Knoxville, Tenn., also will start at running back.

LACY WATKINS, North Torrance, 5-10, 175--Had 165 tackles, two interceptions and three fumble recoveries last season.

PUNTER/KICKER

DAVID FIELDER, Crescenta Valley, 5-11, 175--Converted 11 of 12 field-goal attempts last season and also handled quarterback duties.
